Introduction

Kofukan Scotland is comprised of three different clubs, based in Livingston, New Cumnock and Kilmarnock.

Nationally, Kofukan Scotland are affiliated to the Scottish Karate Governing Body and internationally to Kofukan International. On a more local level all of the clubs are affiliated to their respective Sports Councils

Kofukan International itself has over 20 different member countries, details of which you can find in the information section.

The Chief Instructor in Scotland is Sensei Paul Reid 6th Dan, who has been training now for over 35 years and reports to the Kofukan Internation Cheif Instructors Shihan's Keiji Tomiyama and Naoki Omi, both of who are 7th Dan, whom he has trained with now for over 28 years.

All coaches are registered with the Scottish Karate Governing Body and are constantly updated with their required qualifications.

New students and indeed returning students (of any grade) are always welcome in any of the dojos (training halls). The dojos themselves are places where the members are put through their paces physically, however, they are also a place of learning, enjoyment and harmony.

Please come along to one of the clubs to give karate a try, where you will be made welcome. Karate is an excellent way to improve your own general fitness and health, as well as providing a means of self defence and improving your self confidence. This helps in not only providing you a means in which to meet your goals within Karate but also those personal goals that you may have outwith the sport.

If it is a dedicated career with a black belt as your target then all of the clubs have a proven track record in being able to take a willing student all the way from beginner to black belt level. This is only the beginning of the journey however.
